Homefront Threats

Since 9/11 there have been reports of threats. The accuracy of many of the government warnings has been in doubt. The POINTS project has evaluated the various targets and threats. Recognizing that no one, including POINTS, can predict future events with certainty, we nonetheless believe our background and information sources allows us to suggest relative ranges of dangers and, in some cases, possible defensive actions. Other evaluations have been done by the media and experts. Further information on al-Qaeda and its activities is available in the POINTS library.

Because of the danger of "threat fatigue," -- the inability to be always in a state of hair-trigger readiness -- the public needs to categorize the threats, concentrate on the ones most likely to affect them, provided they have any ability to lessen or reduce the threat.
